How to train smarter, not harder
My fool-proof trick to train smarter, not harder…
It can be hard to fit exercise into our busy schedules, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you make your fitness regime work for you. Here there are:
Establish a routine
Vary your workouts and do a mix of cardio, strength and mobility work. Stretching is a vital part of your fitness regime so factor in some flexibility exercises in your weekly workouts.
Work on technique
Doing an exercise with the wrong form over time can lead to injury so take time to practice and concentrate on technique instead of how many reps you can do.
Schedule in rest days
Your body needs energy to exercise and if you don’t factor in recovery days you will be running on empty. Proper recovery enables us to increase the volume and intensity at our next training session. If we don’t recover properly and train on top of sore muscles, we run the risk of injury, muscle breakdown, stress fractures or even illness (because overtraining lowers our immunity).
Ask for help
The art of training smarter, not harder might be challenging on your own, especially when you feel unmotivated. Hiring a personal trainer like me can hold you accountable, make sure you’re doing the correct form, and working through a bespoke fitness plan that is designed to help you progress safely and effectively.
